Caronte & Tourist runs the Strait of Messina car ferries. Its group companies are Caronte & Tourist Isole Minori (Siremar brand), which serves the Aeolian, Egadi and Pelagie islands, Pantelleria and Ustica; Cartour, which sails Salerno–Messina; and Maddalena Lines, which sails Palau–La Maddalena in Sardinia.

Caronte & Tourist guarantees departures every 40 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, between Villa San Giovanni and Messina (Rada San Francesco). The crossing takes about 20 minutes.
