How we verify ferry information
FerryConnect maps ferry crossings worldwide. A wrong sailing pattern can cost someone a missed boat, so we only publish what we can check against a primary source, and we show you where each fact came from.
Where our data comes from
- Ferry operators. Routes, crossing times, vessels, vehicle and foot-passenger rules, and sailing patterns are checked against the operator’s own website or published timetable.
- Port authorities. Terminal addresses, access and parking come from the port or terminal operator.
- Discovery only. Booking aggregators and encyclopaedias help us find services worth checking, but they are never the source for a published fact.
What “Verified” means
Route and port pages show the pages we checked and the date we checked them. A verified sailing pattern describes how often a route runs as published by the operator (for example “one sailing daily each way”). We only list departure times when the operator prints them, and we always link to the official timetable, because exact times change by season and date.
What we never publish
- Prices or fares presented as current, unless dated and sourced.
- Departure times, frequencies or policies we could not confirm.
- Pages for suspended, freight-only or unverifiable services.
- Invented reviews, testimonials or first-hand experience.
Page quality
We keep more data than we publish. A new route or port page is only offered to search engines once it has a verified source, a sailing pattern and details specific to that crossing. Pages that don’t meet the bar yet stay out of search results until their data is complete.
Updates and corrections
Operators change timetables every season. We re-check routes when schedules change and record the new verification date on the page. If you spot something out of date, email [email protected] and we’ll check it against the operator and correct it.
