Tórshavn → Seyðisfjörður
Tórshavn ferry terminal (Eystarabryggja) to Seyðisfjörður ferry terminal
The overnight North Atlantic leg of Norröna’s route, from the Faroese capital to Seyðisfjörður in east Iceland. It lets travellers combine the Faroes and Iceland on one trip.
Island & Coastal Lifeline Crossings
Offshore archipelago connections and scenic coastal routes
Tórshavn → Suðuroy
Tórshavn ferry terminal (Eystara Bryggja) to Krambatangi (Tvøroyri)
SSL route 7 is the only ferry to Suðuroy, the southernmost Faroe island, sailing from Tórshavn to Krambatangi near Tvøroyri in about two hours on the car ferry Smyril.
Tórshavn → Nólsoy
Tórshavn ferry terminal to Nólsoy harbour
A half-hour hop from Tórshavn to Nólsoy, the long island that shelters the capital’s harbour. It is a popular day trip for hiking to the lighthouse and seeing storm petrels.
Sørvágur → Mykines
Sørvágur harbour to Mykines landing
SSL route 36 is the small passenger ferry to Mykines, the westernmost Faroe island, whose puffin colonies and lighthouse hike make it one of the archipelago’s most sought-after day trips.
Klaksvík → Kalsoy
Klaksvík ferry quay to Syðradalur ferry quay (Kalsoy)
SSL route 56 carries cars and foot passengers from Klaksvík to Syðradalur on the island of Kalsoy in 20 minutes. From Syðradalur, SSL bus 506 runs up the island to Trøllanes, the village at Kalsoy’s northern end.
Hvannasund → Svínoy
Hvannasund ferry quay (Viðoy) to Svínoy landing
SSL route 58 leaves Hvannasund on Viðoy for Svínoy, a tiny village island in the far north-east of the Faroes, before continuing to Fugloy. SSL stresses it is a lifeline service, not a sightseeing cruise: passengers are expected to disembark on the island.
Hvannasund → Fugloy
Hvannasund ferry quay (Viðoy) to Kirkja and Hattarvík landings (Fugloy)
Fugloy is the easternmost island of the Faroes, with two small villages, Kirkja and Hattarvík. M/F Ritan reaches it from Hvannasund via Svínoy, and SSL only sails on to Fugloy when travellers have booked a place.
Gamlarætt → Hestur
Gamlarætt ferry harbour (Streymoy) to Hestur harbour
Route 61 links Gamlarætt, the small ferry harbour south-west of Tórshavn, with the island of Hestur across the sound in about 15 minutes. Every departure runs on reservation, and cars can be carried by arrangement with the crew.
Sandur → Skúvoy
Sandur harbour (Sandoy) to Skúvoy landing
The small boat Sildberin links Sandur on Sandoy with the island of Skúvoy to the south in about 35 minutes. Several departures run only on request, so plan and book ahead.
